Removing the Barriers

“We may be floating on Tao, but there is nothing wrong with steering. If Tao is like a river, it is certainly good to know where the rocks are.”  – Deng Ming-Dao

The river cannot flow evenly or freely when there are rocks or boulders obstructing its way, and so it is in our own life, when we have heavy energy or blockages, we also stop the flow and synchronicity in life.

Where in our life can we shift some of these rocks and stones to clear the way and feel more energy flowing through us?

Is there pain or wounds from our past that has blocked this beautiful energy from being received?

What can I let go of and heal today so I can move forward and free this barrier?

To make space, we need to have the courage to release the parts of our self that prevent us from moving forward.

When we make the effort and choose to let go, the river widens and suddenly our vision is clearer, and the boundless scope of our mind can contemplate the many wonders of life and once again, the flow can continue to bring us new energy.

The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare to let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure. — (Richard Bach, Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah)

  1. Going with the flow of this post, I recently watched a documentary about the Colorado River and how dams placed on the river all the way into Mexico reduced the river to a trickle that no longer made it to the ocean.

In an effort to correct this, cities in the US and in Mexico release strategic pulses of water from all the dams, simulating the river’s natural pulses, and for the first time in decades, the river again flows to the ocean! This, for me, gives context to your beautiful post. ❤

    1. An amazing story Diana and how modern science can simulate the natural pulse of a river! Maybe we can borrow the simulator and try it in our body? But somehow I think we actually have to remove the rocks and stones manually ha! Thankyou for sharing 🙂

  2. I love this Karen!! Rocks are to be expected in the path of the river and in life. Letting go, learning to flow the energy and navigate is a great life lesson.

  3. Karen,
Valuable post. One should look at both ends of a coin in all matters, as you have. There are things that hold us back from fulfilling our purpose, yet others that need to be held firm to keep us from self destruction.
A corral to a horse is binding and denies freedom that is natural and joyful to one once in the wild.
Yet, a fence that surrounds a playground, does not bind but protects from the concerns of danger, allowing children to freely have fun.

  4. This is happening quite literally in my life right now — putting my house up for sale and removing many things that seemed to have become fixtures, but were not. It is so open and airy in here now. My emotional boulders are exactly like the furniture and objects in my house that seem permanent and necessary and hide in plain sight. I like it better the less I hold onto.

    1. Selling a house is definitely a stressful process. I agree MK, whenever I have moved house, I realise how much I have and if I lightened my load, then the move would be easy! Letting go is a good feeling. Good luck with the move!
