The Dark Side of The Moon

‘One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.’

Carl Jung

Sitting on the beach this morning on a beautiful winter’s day, I looked up at the sky and I saw the faded outline of the New Moon, coming up next week.

However, what I saw more clearly, was not only the outline of darkness, but how it was completely held in the fullness and the light of the whole moon.

And then it struck me, how often I avoid the darkness or my fears, simply because I believe I will be separated from the whole, or the light within.

And yet, when I think of all the healings and beautiful changes I have made in my life, it’s always been from sitting with the darkness, feeling my fears, and the allowing this to arise and be released.

And so, next time you are sitting in the darkness of the unknown, and feel separated and alone, think of this picture of the moon, and never forget you are always surrounded in the light and the fullness of your being.

There is no separation. There never has been.

  1. Profound words Karen, and beautifully said. Those dark unknown places of fear within us is just waiting for us to open the light of understanding into it. Then the dark is forever changed. Great post kind lady. Lots of light over here πŸ€—β€οΈπŸ™

    1. Thank you Mark! I agree. πŸŒˆπŸ’« πŸŒ™ The more we embrace the darkness within, without fear, the more light we will see in ourselves and others! πŸ˜‡

  2. This is a beautiful reflection and a reminder that we each have the power and ability to choose the lens through which we view our world – our inner landscape and our experiences of the outer world. I’m reminded that nature has so much for us to see that grounds us

    1. So true Carrie. Mother Nature is constantly renewing and rejuvenating itself and being in it, teaches us we all have the ability to do the same. Thank you

  3. Karen,

I love the quote. This is perfect for me today.

Your reflection is such a great reminder for me to notice when I am stuck because of my own fear. I am holding on to your words.

“when I think of all the healings and beautiful changes I have made in my life, it’s always been from sitting with the darkness, feeling my fears, and allowing this to arise and be released.”

    Thank you for your wisdom.
