Self-criticism, on the other hand, is anathema to self-compassion. Once we learn to stop judging ourselves, we can look upon our lesser talents with compassion.

I have been very aware of my thoughts and feelings lately, and in doing so, I have noticed an unconscious judgement that emerges when I am not receiving what ‘I believe I need in life.’
Judgement is a powerful force within us all and if left unattended, can block the flow of abundance and peace in our lives. Often, our immediate reaction to this judgement is to look outside ourselves for evidence of our worth, approval or validation.
However, when we allow room to feel and see the stories we grew up believing about ourselves and others, we can learn to shift this repeating pattern, and overtime, nurture and heal these old hidden judgements.
This practice below is a beautiful way to become aware of our judgements and replace it with love.
‘When I hear myself speak in ways that are judgmental or that indicate a need to suppress some part of me, I stop, and let myself be with these words or feelings. It’s a space to meet the hidden parts of myself that I avoid.
I then ask, ‘Can I be open to see this person or this situation in a new way? Do I feel hurt or fearful? Do I want to suppress or hide this part from others?
I began to notice that my words, my fears, and my perceptions were inextricably linked, and when I shifted away from this old way of thinking, so did my outside experiences in life.
It’s a patient process, but one I am really seeing and receiving the fruits of, and which motivates me to stay committed to this practice.
Well said Karen, so true for us all.
Thank you Ashley! Bringing this hidden part of me into the ‘light’ I am now allowing more room for abundance and love 🙏🏻😌🌿
Oh yes, Karen. This makes me think of a Radiohead lyric “We do it to ourselves, we do, and that’s why it really hurts.” Becoming conscious of all
the ways we short change ourselves and then working to
overcome these aspects with compassion, is a real work in progress that leads to new freedoms. Great post. Thank you for this reminder, Karen!
Perfect song for this post! And I agree, more compassion and less judgement Ka. Thank you 💞🌸💞
Powerful words Karen, and shared well. It was the most amazing thing when I finally saw through my fear…I was so loaded with judgement in all I was. I was shocked until I realized that is what fear is…a held judgement of us.
A great post kind lady, no truer word spoken. Thank you for the share 🤗❤️🙏
It is powerful when we see what blocks us from our freedom and the abundance of life. I think we are all loaded with this judgement Mark and the more we unravel it the more we receive. Thank you! 🤩 🙏🏻🌿🌸
Indeed kind lady, well said 🤗❤️🙏
thank you for this. you are right.
Thank you Beth 💞🌸💞
Exactly!!! How true! We tend to be our own worst enemy and that, not outside of ourselves, is where we begin to learn how to LOVE ourselves by stopping the “war” inside.
I agree Amy. It takes time to see this within us and to heal these old stories. Thank you for being here. 💞🌸💞🙏🏻
You speak truth as well! You are welcome! ❤️
💜 🙏🏼
Thank you Eliza 💞💞
A beautiful insight …especially when being with family or those challenging peeps from the past. Finding a way to accept, love and appreciate, even with the differences allows the love and kinship to be the foundation for unfolding. 💞
That’s the truth Val. Unpacking and healing our stories step by step, and revealing our power and peace. 💞🥰💞 Thank you 🙏🏻
Questions worth sitting with-I then ask, ‘Can I be open to see this person or this situation in a new way? Do I feel hurt or fearful? Do I want to suppress or hide this part from others?❤️
Yes they really help me too Ali. Thank you 💞💞
Beautifully written! I think fear and judge by others sometimes makes us afraid but if we can ignore them then it becomes good 💯
Yes so true Priti. Thank you for being here. 💞💞
🙏
Thank you, Karen, for reminding us to be accepting and gentle with ourselves. When we learn to do this, we can then be this way with others.
I totally agree Michele! We create all the changes we need for our life. Thank you 💞💞💞
