Uncertainty

I left Australia on April 3rd to travel around Europe.

Our first stop was London to see our beautiful daughter who has been living there and working as a teacher.

And now we are travelling through beautiful Italy and then Austria, and lastly Ireland!

I love travelling because it challenges me to adapt in ever changing environments, and to build resilience in times of uncertainty.

Not something we like to do naturally, because it feels easier to stay with what we know, but as I travel through different countries, languages and experiences, it opens me, and reveals any limiting beliefs and wounding that has been hidden in the familiar.

Uncertainty, although difficult at times, teaches me to surrender, to listen deeply, and to trust I will be guided to the perfect place to learn, grow and receive.

And from there I re-discover again, the spaciousness and potential of my being.

I am so grateful to be here and to learn so much more about myself, but even if we don’t travel, life is always encouraging us to move beyond our comfort zone and into the wilderness and possibilities of uncertainty.

  5. Love this post .. and reminder to embrace discomfort as a way to grow and evolve. Living in an other country changed my approach to life completely… and I think made me more open and accepting of differences. Embracing uncertainty sparks our curiosity rather than fear. Enjoy your travels and adventures 💐🙏🥰

  6. Karen, just yesterday I encouraged a younger friend not to be afraid to tackle their new life…. And taking as an example my own departure from the predictable, easy, and frankly, probably boring life. I was hardly 22 when we moved with much enthusiasm if not anything else to Canada, where I had to
    1 find us accommodation, my ex not speaking English yet
    2 find him a job, explaining to his future employers his skills (a profession not known in Canada)
    3 get a job myself, missing my dream job because I couldn‘t understand their writing and taking a 7 for a 1 and phoning a wrong number repeatedly
    4 get us enrolled in English classes, where we sat in the lowest and highest levels of American English and each of us had a super pal, also learning…. And finding out that THEY were a couple too. Us visiting them after they returned to Montreal!
    What I told our friend was that travelling and having to adapt to so many new experiences really MADE me. And every further experience abroad made me more of myself. After 2yrs in Canada, 8+yrs in England, 12+yrs in France I‘m deeply happy with my life here, thankful and very forgiving.

      1. That sounds really good, Karen. Actually, I’m taking a trip where I will be sharing a house with six of my family members, and all with very different personalities. Now, this is what I call uncertainty and maybe a lot of bravery, lol. Wish me good luck.
