“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” Francis Hodgson Burnett
How often do we see our life from a different perspective? Are we happy to accept the one we have always known?
Wisdom is the art of seeing a bigger picture. Wisdom also knows that two people will often see the same thing differently.
So when we chose to turn our whole world upside down and inside out and then look at things from a different perspective, can it change? Our perception is simply what we focus on. What we believe despite appearances, makes the difference between a happy life or an unhappy life.
“Change your focus about life and life changes.” Gandhi
When life presents us with a tragic change or great stress, it is hard to find perspective. Sometimes at the end of a very stressful time, we start to wonder what is the point of our life or our pain?
When we focus on negative thoughts about a situation, that is what we see. When we focus on a situation with positive thoughts and a bigger understanding of our life, we learn to see and feel differently.
There is a disciplined choice we can make about every situation we are presented with. It is easy to fall into our usual dialogue and belief about what happens to us. Perspective is seeing outside of our own pain and our own issues. Once we see a bigger picture than the one we have created in our minds, we may discover a solution and freedom that we never knew existed.
“Many of us spend our whole lives running from feeling, with the mistaken belief that you can not bear the pain. But you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is feel all you are beyond that pain.” Kahlil Gilbran
Great piece. I love the quote by Abraham-Hicks, “A belief is just a thought you keep thinking.”
So true Noelle, great quote. Once we change our thinking, we change our perspective on life.
Powerful words! Yes, it is all our perspective and we have the power to change it at any given time. Thank you for your wise words.
Thankyou. We do have the ability to change how we see every situation and not always easy to do. 🙂
I often think about this. I always think why most people I work with prefer going to bars while I prefer traveling. I think about my status in life and compare it to others. I often think how I’m too carefree and others are too serious (not that mine is a better attitude than the later – both has its own disadvantages). Why people complain so much, some so ungrateful!? Why a lot of people always have to take pictures of themselves with the views? I often think I’m so different. Then I always shut if off. I love how somewhat different I am than most. It’s all perspective. I shouldn’t judge them as they better not judge me … or else. 😀
Because we are all unique and we all have different understandings, that is why life is interesting and challenging Rommel! When I try to understand why others do what they do, I have more compassion for them and maybe even change my perspective of them.
You have a great attitude in life, keep it up. 🙂
I love this Karen! A change is perspective can really shift our reality.
I hadn’t seen this quote about looking the right way and seeing the world as a garden. That one will stick with me for a while! The garden is at its best this time of year and about to reach its full promise.
Reminds me of life … lol 😍
Our gardens are beautiful in the spring Val and we can too can blossom and grow when we change our perspective! Have a beautiful spring weekend. 🙂

Yes….
It is an awareness and a practice! Thanks David 😇
Every issue or thing possesses one truth. What a thing “is,” is based on a common sense first principle, determining its identifying goodness. Relativistic views disrupt a thing’s or an issue’s clarity. Anything contrary to the first principle goes against its truth and goodness.
The truth of a pencil is in its purpose; that is that it is used to write. If I decide to open a can with it the pencil I will fail, and will destroy the pencil and along with it, its innate goodness.

Love this post Karen, when things don’t go to plan its hard to accept at first but I am learning to let it go and just deal with whatever comes.
