Shedding The Past

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

— C.S. Lewis

I was reading it can take a snake up to two weeks to shed its skin, and then there is a pre-shed process and a post-shed process as well.

It reminded me how often I have been challenged to let go of the past and my old ways of being, and how impatient I have been throughout this process.

Just like the snake who sheds its skin several times a year, we too are constantly asked to shed what no longer serves us, whether it’s a habit, belief, or destructive thought patterns, and although this takes time, the more we allow this to happen, the more room we create to reveal our true nature.

Living in alignment with our truth and authenticity isn’t easy, however, when we remember it is through our suffering that we have an opportunity to change our old stories and limitations and in turn, this gives us new ways to move through life, the freedom to shine, and to let our soul pull us towards the next step!

‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. ‘ – Aristotle

  1. Always changing our skins in our many adventures Karen. This world, hard though it is sometimes, wants us to complete this journey and become something wonderful from those changes.🤗❤️🙏

  2. A inspiring post Karen reminding us of remaining authentic in our truth and consistently resilient in our behaviour and pursuit of excellence. The school of suffering and challenges is always a difficult part of life yet so vital to our character development and proving and testing our integrity.

  3. I guess I am in the process of shedding maybe that is why I feel so tired. I am working to give myself grace in this process.

Thanks for always sending out good vibes.

  4. What a beautifully written post, Karen. It’s a reminder that transformation takes time and patience… often, the things I do not have 🙃. Letting go of he past, shedding old beliefs and habits, is so tough, but it is amazing how doing so can make life so much easier. Thank you, Karen, and wishing you well.
