“Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.” – Aristotle
“The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton is groundbreaking work in the field of new biology, and it will forever change how you think about thinking. Through the research of Dr. Lipton and other leading-edge scientists, stunning new discoveries have been made about the interaction between your mind and body and the processes by which cells receive information.”

I have been practicing these principles for 8 years and it has definitely increased my consciousness and improved my health!
Did you know there are 50 Trillion cells in our body (number varies!) that respond to our every thought? Or that the average mind is conscious only 5% of the time? Or that we have sub-consciously programmed our core beliefs and thoughts about life by the time we are 6 years old? Hence the quote “give me a child until he is 7…..”
If I am operating on a sub-conscious level 95% of the time, which is when I am not paying attention and my mind is running the show, (remembering these automatic reactions were taught to me) then ultimately, I should be making an effort everyday to be aware of my thoughts and recognize my learned behaviors.
More importantly when I practice consciousness, I start to create my own thoughts and create a new story for my future. The more I do this, the less time I am operating from past conditioning.
Lipton discovers how the cells in our body respond to these beliefs and thoughts that we have each day. This is an important factor when understanding how this affects our health.
My thoughts influence my brain and the brain releases chemistry that matches my thoughts. If I am stressed, fearful or angry, I release chemistry in the blood that actually shuts off the growth system and the immune system, as my body conserves energy for the “fight or flight” response.
This is fine if I am feeling this every now and then, but what if my body is in this state everyday? How is my health responding to these thoughts?
If I have thoughts of love, acceptance and happiness on a regular basis, then I release a different chemistry into my blood and all my cells are bathed in these thoughts. This chemistry over time, supports growth and healing and helps my immune system.
My cells are a large community that is governed by my mind. If I consciously work on letting go of my limiting thoughts and patterns and create harmony in my life through a practice of stillness, yoga, positive affirmations and a positive lifestyle, then over time, it is inevitable that this will contribute to good health and a higher level of consciousness. 🙂
“Every action and feeling is preceded by a thought.”
A great book! Hard to believe it’s been ten years since he wrote it. Great post!
Thanks Carrie, he is great and it’s a life time of changing those patterns.
I love Bruce Lipton. Funny, I was just thinking about him yesterday. Somewhere I have that set of CDs, and I was thinking about listening to them again. They are so inspiring. I remember when they came out. He knows so much and he gets so excited talking about it. It’s contagious. Thanks for the reminder, Karen.
Peace and Happiness

I agree he is true motivator Mary! I wish his work was contagious enough for people to truly practice this, including medical professionals. 🙂 Many blessings
I know!!!! Right? Medical professionals. Why the heck not?
fascinating!
i’ll have to read more!
“all wrong doing
arises from the mind” Buddha 🙂
It does indeed David. We have great power to change everything with our thoughts.
A truly amazing post. Thank you!
Thankyou Nico, I am glad you enjoyed it.
I am going to get this book!
Yes please do Julie, it is a fascinating subject to read about. 🙂

Ha! We all do Mr Kanigan, so hurry up and unravel, we need you on board!
You better call on others at the front of the classroom. I have a lot of wood to chop here.
No your coming up the front of the class! Your my prize student 🙂
Life time student!
We are all in the same school! 🙂
Wow, lots of information to chew on here Karen! I was surprised to recently learn that we operate from our subconscious 95% of the time as well. Thanks for taking it a step further here and sharing how we can use becoming present in the moment to benefit us in the way we think and to keep our bodies healthier. ❤

Thanks Diana, I agree, lots of information to digest! It’s very interesting.
Your words speaking volumes. Often we say for true change to occur, it must start in the mind. I am a believer in this concept spiritually as well as physically and chemically. To be masters of our own destiny, we need our minds to guide us in both conscious and unconscious states. It takes learning and practice to alter old patterns of thought and behavior. This effort, however, takes us to a new level of inner peace and happiness.
Thought provoking!
Great comment and that is exactly how we heal. It takes a life time to practice, but as you say, it will take us to a new level. Thanks Jonathan.
I enjoy Bruce Lipton’s work too Karen.
So many of us live from the neck up … its time to break down the barriers and beliefs rooted in the past with science and spiritual practice.

Well said Val. It’s a new day, and a new year, always a good time to start. Have a great day my yoga guru. 🙂
🙏 🐥
May I ask of you Karen, do you see mind and body as two sides of the one coin, or as separate entities/phenomena? Thankyou in advance for indulging me, if you will.
Happy to indulge you Hariod. I believe the mind, breath, and body travel as one. No separation to anyone or anything. My thoughts, beliefs and actions always affect the whole. 🙂
Love Bruce. Wouldn’t it be cool to have him as a neighbor? 🙂
Absolutely Eliza, he could remind me all the time, to check in on my thoughts and vibration! 🙂
Exactly! Can you imagine the conversations over the fence? 🙂
Yes it would be great! 🙂
Good post, Karen. We do respond to our thoughts.
That is why Jesus instructed us to not worry about tomorrow. For today’s concerns are enough.
Worry never added a moment to our lives. It does, however, subtract from it.
-Alan
Happy New Year Alan! Today’s concerns are indeed enough, so true. 🙂
I have not heard of this book and I will check it out. Thanks for the review.
Great. Thanks Elizabeth. 🙂
Hi Karen,
I had heard the name Bruce Lipton, but didn’t know exactly to whom it referred. I look forward to reading some of his work when I get a nice window of time– maybe during a vacation later this year or something. I’m fascinated by the intersection of biology and physics, and the piece in that article about discovering the cellular membrane was the homologue to a computer chip was really fascinating… Have you heard of the book the Rainbow & The Worm by Mae-Wan Ho? If you are interested in biology and physics, you may really enjoy that one, too… Body as a quantum symphony!
Peace
Michael
I haven’t heard of the Rainbow and the Worm, but it sounds very interesting. There is so much to learn about our mind/body connection and as you beautifully state “Body as a quantum symphony.” Working as a counselor, I am always surprised how disconnected people are from their body, and their ability to believe that their emotions, beliefs and actions have a extensive affect on their health. This knowledge is becoming more accepted and understood over time, which is great. Thanks Michael.
A great post. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day!
Arcane owl
Thankyou Arcane Owl, for stopping by. Have a great day too 🙂
Welcome 😉
Karen I have not heard of Bruce but agree when we are conscious of positive thought, good things seem to follow. We can change our day by practicing being in the moment and being grateful too.
So true and the more I do this, the more my life seems to flow easily and abundantly. It’s amazing how powerful our thoughts are.
