Courage

Each of us holds within the capacity for greatness. The difference between those who achieve greatness and those who do not, simply lies in our beliefs and in our courage.

When we feel inadequate or uncertain on our path, we sometimes believe we are safe by doing what we have always done when in fact, doing what we have always done is motivated by fear, not courage.  Stepping out in courage is how we build our confidence and allow new paths to open up.

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”  – Winston Churchill

Our lack of confidence comes from “trapped thinking.” These negative thoughts and beliefs bombard our mind and convince us that we cannot create the life we dream of.  Trapped thinking always tells us, “We can’t” … because.

When we embrace a new practice in life, changing the way we have always thought and acted, we begin to connect to our inner power and courage.

Learning to recognise the obstacles we create with our thoughts, allows us to see how often we are sabotaging our journey.  When we start to develop solutions through change and awareness, positive experiences will begin to happen in our life.

Write down your fears and why you feel blocked from stepping forward in courage.

Ask yourself, “Can I let go and trust in life and a bigger picture?”  If not, why?

Create awareness each day and note when you are stepping out of your power and into negative thinking.

Write down how you could begin to practice letting go of these old beliefs and thoughts daily.

Practice.  Practice.

Writing down these ideas or simply speaking them out loud is one way to ignite change and direction.  Overtime you will see how these changes will help forge you onto new paths and wonderful opportunities!

  1. Karen, again, how timely for me. Sometimes I call courage stupidity when it feels like the change I’ve made isn’t working out… A lot to think about here Karen. ❤

    1. I don’t think if you stepped out in courage or tested the unknown it could ever be called “stupid.” In hindsight we all look back and perhaps wished things were different at times, but we made decisions based on what we knew at the time, and that is how we learn. You are full of courage and intuition Diana , never doubt that shining light within!

  2. Karen some years back i started reading Louise Hays books and noticed there is a negative feed that comes and goes. I guess we are all human and we have our good and bad days. When I feel these wretched Gremlins sitting on my shoulder, telling me I have no right or education to create the books I wish to create, I have to work hard and not listen. I am way out of my comfort zone writing a novel. But I can’t stop.

    1. Oh you are finishing that novel Kath and it will be an amazing success! Those little negative voices are in us all, we just need to ignore them and remember to connect to our dreams and our immense potential! Maybe we should launch our books together ha 💚❤💚

      1. Finishing something large is difficult for me Karen. I get bored easily. But I have stuck to the same projects this year and hope to be closer to finishing by the end of this year.

  3. “A ship is safe in a harbour, but that is not what ships are for…” Wow, that is a powerful quote and one you then follow up with an even more powerful post… Courage is truly needed to live this life well. And also, what springs and inspiration there is in that last shot 😉

    1. The quote is so true. There is immense potential within everyone and yet, we often don’t see that in ourselves. When we really understand this greatness within, we will definitely want to jump in the air each day! Thanks for your support Randall 🙂

  4. I also love the first quote.
Yikes! Even writing down my fears is already fearful enough. Ahihihi 😀 It’s true though. Why limit yourself because of fear when you truly have the desire to do something. Yes, I think your desire is an aspect in overcoming your fear. And you still need to be prudent.

    1. Ha you always make me laugh! We all have fears but they are not real, so just let them go. You are right, our desire and motivation towards our goals can overpower these fears and help us succeed. Thanks Rommel 🙂

  5. So helpful Karen in getting past our limiting beliefs and our fears. Courage comes from the French word “coeur” meaning heart. Fear resides in our thinking and brings constriction. Courage is in our heart and brings expansion. 🙂

    1. Thankyou Val, I have read this a long time ago but I forgot how beautiful these words were. You are right, our courage is a wonderful gift of expansion in our lives. 🙂

  6. Excellent thinking points, Karen. While I remind myself that fear is natural it’s about not feeding the fear and instead channeling the energy into something more productive and liberating. It’s tough releasing that lifelong hold fear seems to have had but, as you say, practice! 🙂

  7. I was afraid to retire early, afraid I wouldn’t have enough money (I just barely do). But one day after I’d pondered retiring a year early, I went to the grocery store and in the checkout line in front of me was a former coworker towing her oxygen.
I turned in my notice the next day. I chose to retire while I still had health and energy because I knew I had many things I wanted to do that couldn’t be done as easily if I weren’t well.
So glad I got brave enough to leave!

    1. Thankyou Emilie, this is s great example of courage. My parents are looking at retirement villages at the moment and this comment is exactly the feelings they have also been experiencing. Change takes courage.
