Everything we ever needed to know is waiting in the space between our thoughts – Simon Boylan
The function of a room,
Is in its emptiness.
A room that is cluttered,
Has less space to live.
So it is with the Dao.

I think at times, we create busy minds and busy lives to avoid feeling.
Let’s create space in our day and learn to sit in the silence and our pain. Feeling what it is that needs to arise, and letting go of what no longer serves us.
Namaste
So much wisdom here, Karen. I think, in many respects, we have lost the ability to sit with ourselves, to just be still. But oh can those quiet spaces be valuable!
They are valuable Lori. I am so grateful for those spaces. Thankyou.
My mind is so busy, I’m up at 5:30 am sitting in the dark reading this and awaiting the sunrise. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. A mix of the two I think. I need sleep but I also need time alone–time to be quiet–time to be selfish and alone. Time to absorb something. What? Maybe your words. Thanks.
I find stillness early in the morning without distractions, energizes me and clears my head for the day. It’s never easy to get up and be still, it’s always a practice! Try it and see how you feel. 🙂
I love the Simon Boylan quote! That’s in between our thoughts we meditate, sit in complete silence with an empty canvas ready to be filled from the deep inside 🙂
So true Helen. Everything we need is in that space. 💜
I’m south you Karen,
And Socrates too,
“Beware the barrenness of a busy life.”
Thankyou Sawsan and great quote too!
I meant to saw with you, not south.
🙂
Yes! This is exactly what I try to start my day with, stillness and silence in order to be able to create that room.
That’s why you are wise and beautifully spacious! 💜
You are so kind and compassionate, thank you my friend.
Thank you, your words are always so kind and compassionate.
So so beautiful Karen. Namaste.
Thankyou Nico 🙏🏻
Stillness and silence. Ahhhhh….well, bird songs can be there. 🙂
Absolutely Mary, and the only way to hear the beautiful sounds of nature is by creating space for it to be heard. Have a wonderful day my friend. 🙂
A lovely post. It invites a slow, deep breath.
Thank you Karen.
Good that’s what I hoped. Thankyou MK.
Such a wonderful reminder Karen. I’m with Mary here, birdsong as well as gentle music are welcome companions here.
💛
It’s a beautiful space to be in and so very healing. Thankyou Val 🙏🏻
URGH! You are my pain in the @$$ guru. 😀 I love it!
Ha ha you forget on your hikes and being amongst the most beautiful parts of nature in the world, you are in stillness always, it’s just training your mind to connect to it. 🙂
I am one who will always seek out the quiet. Alone. No distractions, music, voices. But it took years to be comfortable in that space. Now I crave it like air. So my (unsolicited) advice to others who are afraid to ‘go there’ is to be brave. And patient. Believe me, it has much to recommend it.
So true Bela! There is a precious gift in facing the silence. 🙏🏻
gently, like
a can opener,
creates space 🙂
Exactly David! 🙏🏻
Great advice. ☺
Thankyou 🙏🏻
☺ 🌷
So true post Karen 😀
My experience is the same with people, who always either looks at the TV or listen to a radio etc. They seem to be scared for the stillness and this is so necessary to do too, to release all as no longer serve us.
Yes it is hard to face our pain. It is definitely a practice. Thankyou Irene. ❤️
Great Karen.
As we remove the useless clutter of valueless things from our homes in spring cleaning. So too must we clear from our minds and hearts the needless clutter that denies us a clear view of truth.
-Alan
Creating space does give us a clearer view Alan. Thankyou 🙏🏻
I agree Karen sometimes we need to stop and feel the emotions, not ignore them, just sit with them and really feel what is going on in our mind, body and soul.
Kath.
Yes it’s true. This has really helped me 💚
