The Power of Empathy

Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another,

Listening with the ears of another,

Feeling with the heart of another.

We all know the power of empathy and how it makes us feel connected and understood in our daily life.  Lack of empathy affects our health and our attitude towards traumatic situations. I came across this story a few days ago and was amazed at the effect it had on children having treatment for cancer.  Compassion and empathy are what we need to build within to heal and become whole.

Stanford Graduate School of Business Marketing Professor Jennifer Aaker shows the value of harnessing empathy to design products, and improve the performance of employees.

  2. Don’t tell anybody this, but I’m secretly an emotional, empathetic person. I usually cry, when no one’s around, whenever I watch tearjerker movie and TV scenes. 😀 Plus, my eyes are just always watery for some reason. It’s watery when I laugh. Usually in the morning, first hour after waking is the worst. Sometimes for no reason at all, my eyes just starts to get watery. One unique thing about me.

  3. You are greatly expanding the minds of your readers. We harness such amazing power and need to learn how to unleash its potential. Your words and messages offer hope where many believe none exists. This is a powerful post. Thank you once again for sharing.

  4. Thank you for the post. It got me thinking, too, about the difference between healing and curing. Even in situations were a physical cure is impossible, healing and wholeness on a mental/spiritual level can still a great comfort. Experiencing empathy certainly plays a large role in that.

  5. To actually witness a turning around of how things are approached in this world by turning to compassion and empathy, brings huge shouts of joy from me! Thank you so much for posting this. Your post has only given me more incentive to keep doing what I am.
