Movement

“Nothing happens until something moves.”

Albert Einstein

We have been watching the Humpbacks Whales off the NSW coastline each weekend. The whales migrate 16,000 km north over four to five months.

The whales migrate to warmer waters so they can deliver their newborns and breed.

I never tire watching these whales spout their expelled air, rise up and twist, or playfully wave their fins!

And today as we noticed them heading back down south again, with their newborns in tow, it struck me how important movement is in our life.

Whether we are travelling abroad, moving house, changing jobs, or leaving a relationship, these movements push us out of our comfort zone and into our growth and expansion.

How often have we intuitively felt the need to move in some way, knowing it feels right, but then automatically allow our mind, thoughts and beliefs in, convincing us it’s easier and safer to stay where we are.

It takes faith and trust to step out into the unknown and away from the familiar, but each time I do, I learn so much more about myself and the world around me.

Each time I move, I discover I have the resilience to adapt and grow in a new environment, or sometimes it helps me see a new perspective and a better way to live

And so, when we understand how precious and fleeting life is, why not take the time to explore and move with the infinite beauty and abundance of all life!

  1. Powerful words Karen, those changes are indeed the making of us. Just a side issue, the albino whale has gone quiet. Has there been any mention of him or is he too on a new path 🤗🤣❤️🙏

    1. Thank you Mark. Apparently Migaloo the albino whale has not been seen since 2020 so I’m not sure where he is! And yes maybe travelling and moving around. 🐋 🐳 🌈

  2. This is timely for me, Karen. Having very recently moved, once again, I am beginning to appreciate my life’s path in a different way than perhaps I have before now. Each move, each new place to live has brought with it, great joy and alongside, deep loss. Holding both – joy and loss – is a well known experience for many of us; yet the challenge of doing so is as fresh and at times as edgy and challenging as ever it was. Each move brings new sight, new experiences and new opportunities for creative expression. The losses seem to bring a different texture to the creative experience. Thank you for this reflection. You offered it at a time when I needed it. 🙏🏻💜

    1. I agree Carrie, movement and change is challenging. It pulls us away from familiar and opens us to see what we need to let go of.

Never easy, but you are right, it’s necessary to create space in us to grow and to see new ways to express ourselves more fully.

May you settle into this new environment with ease, and find great joy and abundance along the way. 💕🌈💕

  3. What a special sight it must be to watch the Humpback whales migrate, and to see them spouting and twisting up as the break the surface… wow, I dream of seeing such movements 😊.

I go through periods of diving into theoretical physics now and then, so love the quote because it is essentially how life works and how we should live life: “Each time I move, I discover I have the resilience to adapt and grow in a new environment, or sometimes it helps me see a new perspective and a better way to live… “ Amen to this thought, and wishing you the best as you move into spring 😊

    1. Thank you Randall, it’s so special to watch the whales and to see how free they are to express themselves.

Spring is here and it’s warm already, wishing you the same as you move into autumn 🍂 ☺️
