Choose Stillness

And I found that I can do it, if I choose to.

I can stay awake and let the sorrows of the world tear me apart and then allow the joys to put me back together, different from before, but whole once again.

No matter how busy or overwhelming life can feel, I choose to surrender.

I choose to create still moments of self-reflection and rest.

I choose to turn my face to the sun, close my eyes and breathe in its warmth.

I choose to place my bare feet on the earth and the early morning frost, as I remember the oneness of life.

I choose deep listening and become aware of every movement and sound and feel the birdsong touch my heart.

I choose to feel the void, the pain, the fears, or the anger and allow it all to be here.

I choose to connect and feel the fullness of this moment and emerge whole again.

  1. We will get there dear lady…and touch something beyond words. But in between those moments, someone keeps tempting me with chocolate πŸ˜€ ❀️ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ¦‹

  2. Beautiful, Karen. Many days present challenges that often linger…and stillness is the path back home to self. Thank you for this lovely and timely reminder. πŸ’œπŸ™πŸ»

  3. Beautiful post and thoughts, Karen. If there is something I’ve finally come to realize is coming back to yourself, in thought and surrendering is peaceful and a cathartic release. The opening quote you use is powerful, in that the sorrows of life will tear us apart, it is unavoidable, but it is also a process of life we have to embrace so we can then allow the joys to put us back together again. As you say, different than before but whole and stronger. Stillness allows this process to take place. This is a gem of a post, thank you πŸ™‚ Wishing you well ~

    1. I always appreciate your thoughts and comments Randall. Silence always teaches me so much about myself and a deeper understanding of life. Have a wonderful weekend. 😌
