“Love, like a river, will cut a new path whenever it meets an obstacle.” – Crystal Middlemas
There is the story of a young martial arts student who was under the guidance of a famous master.
One day, the master was watching a practice session in the courtyard.
He realized that the presence of the other students was interfering with the young man’s attempts to perfect his technique.
The master could sense the young man’s frustration. He went up to the young man and tapped him on the shoulder.
‘What’s the problem?’ he enquired.
‘I don’t know?’ said the youth, with a strained expression.
‘No matter how much I try, I am unable to execute the moves properly.’
‘Before you can master technique, you must understand focus and harmony. Come with me, I will explain,’ replied the master.
The teacher and student left the building and walked some distance into the woods until they came upon a stream. The master stood silently on the bank for several moments.
Then he spoke.
‘Look at the stream,’ he said.
‘There are always rocks in its way, but does the water slam into the rocks and stop moving?’
No. It simply flows over and around them and moves on! Be like the water and you will know how to face distractions in life.’
The young man took the master’s advice and with practice, he was focused, and executed the most perfect moves.
We don’t always need to stop, notice or contemplate, road blocks or challenges in our life. Sometimes we simply just need to move on.
Love the photo and how it ties into message. Awesome Karen.
It does. Thanks Dave 😉
That is the third time that story has come to me. I wrote it in my post from spirit, I read it again in another post and now in yours. I must still be trying to move the rock with something and not flow past. I shall meditate a little more on that, thank you kind lady 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
Well that’s definitely a message for you. Maybe it’s not because you trying to move rock, but because you are not letting go of something? 🤫
Wise words Karen, I shall consider that, I had not thought of it. Thank you 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
May you flow freely again soon 🙏🏻🌈
Maybe, you’re merely meant to pass it on to someone in your sphere that needs to integrate this powerful message.
Yes indeed, it needs further thought due to its impact 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
Karen, a timely post, as I am releasing so much right now. It is freeing to see those rocks in a different way…to flow around. Beautiful metaphor for letting go and moving on, for sure. Thank you. This is a reinforcing message for me today. 🙏🏻❤️
I loved this message too Carrie. When we flow, we are free. It is a gift when we know how. 💕💚
Timely post for me – and beautiful photography to support the words visually. Thank you!
I’m so glad. Thank you 💕💚
An excellent example everybody can understand.
Thank you Kiki 💕💚
Yes! Just keep going.
Yes!! We can 👏💕💚
Wise words! ❤
Thank you 🥰💚
Another uplifting post, Karen. Be like the water: a lifelong challenge for me. Worse yet, when trapped in a whirlpool not of my making.
Thank you Rosaliene. 💚 To flow with life, I have had to learn I am ‘one’ with everything, which means someone else cannot be creating my whirlpool or obstacle. It is always in me. 🙏🏻
Love this wisdom, Karen 💕 We become so earnest in our quests … simply keep moving and allow the path of least resistance to open up.
Yes that’s it. 🌈💕💚
Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you Nico 😊🙏🏻
😊🌏
That is a beautiful meaningful metaphor.
Thank you 🥰💚
Love your message Karen. Thank you.
Me too. Thanks Michele 💚💕
Wow, this is such a timely message for me as well, Karen, as I seem to be spinning like a top at the moment. Realizing that the best course of action may well be to simply stop fighting… xox
It is the best course of action Lori and takes far less energy. Sending lots of love and flow 💦
Keep on moving. One step, one day, one breathe at a time.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you for stepping into this beautiful movement each day Ali 💦💚
Truly blessed to have these illustrated reminders. Thank you, Karen. I loved this flowing parable. 💦🌟
We are blessed! Keep flowing beautifully Ka 💚💕
A beautiful piece of wisdom, Karen. Love the quote: “Love, like a river, will cut a new path whenever it meets an obstacle.” When there is something we wish to accomplish, we need such patience and mindset ~ and I think for as difficult 2020 was for everyone, it does give us the chance to sharpen our focus and keep the path. Take care, and wish you a great holiday season.
I agree and I think 2020 was an opportunity to find all the barriers or walls within us that prevent us from flowing with love. May we all find fewer obstacles and walls as we enter 2021 and I wish you a wonderful holiday season with family and friends too Randall 🌈🙏🏻
That’s one strong rock of wisdom. Of late I have been having issues with focus. These reads sends me to correct direction. Thank you.
Thank you for being here. You are always welcome 💚
I think life has worn me down to become the stream more and more . . . not always a bad thing but the journey can be a little exhausting:). Great story!
Yes it’s def an easier path and keeps us connected to the aliveness in every moment 💦🙏🏻💦
