Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” – Confucius
I was thinking the other day, because we are bombarded by so much pain, separation, death and heartache in our world, across all platforms of social media, we often forget to focus on all the beauty in our life.
I set a challenge for myself to take a picture of something beautiful everyday for seven days. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and each of us see’s beauty from a different perspective. A child sleeping, a sunrise, a full moon, a plate of beautiful food, or as simple as dew drops on a leaf.
One thing I know for sure, it’s always there to be seen, and Mary Oliver reminds us so beautifully.
Song of the Builders
On a summer morning
I sat down
on a hillside
to think about God –
a worthy pastime.
Near me, I saw
a single cricket;
it was moving the grains of the hillside
this way and that way.
How great was its energy,
how humble its effort.
Let us hope,
it will always be like this,
each of us going on
in our inexplicable ways
building the universe.
~ Mary Oliver ~

Oh thanks Anita! Blessings to you 💕
Karen, Great post.
Like the grasshopper we to can separate ourselves from the world. If we see ourselves as in this world and not of it, we can then again appreciate the beauty that God has so graced us….even the beauty in a neighbor we don’t quite understand.
