Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life, is the foundation for all abundance. – Eckhart Tolle
“There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to the baker. One day the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting a pound and he found that he was not. This angered him and he took the farmer to court. The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure. The farmer replied, “Your Honor, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale.” The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?” The farmer replied “Your Honor, long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him. Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”
I only attract scarcity in my life, when I feel it somewhere within. When I feel empty or limited, I reflect this belief back into the world. How can I replace this feeling and belief with abundance and fullness? Through expanding my thoughts about abundance. Through gratefulness of what I already have and giving freely. These actions always help create a shift in my thoughts and my feelings.
Each of us is blessed abundantly. If we’d simply accept that, with gratitude, and acknowledge our abundance (even the itty bitty blessings) we can begin to appreciate the mind-set shift you reference, Karen. Lovely thoughts!
I agree Eric, well said. Our attitude definitely makes a difference. Thankyou.
I love this!
Thankyou Nico. It is a great reminder.
Great tale of karmic mirroring. Happy Weekend, Karen!
It is Eliza. Happy weekend to you too.
Excellent!
Thankyou so much.
You’re welcome.
Love that story. We get from life what we put in. It’s all about perspective.
Sending well wishes and good vibes your way. Have a great weekend ☺
Thankyou! It is our attitude and perspective always. Have a great weekend too.
☺🌷
So many people follow this rule to this day…..you get a present for aprox $20 and that’s all you feel obligated to buy for them….I know many people who play this game….personally….I give from my heart….if there is something I want to give someone, I don’t put value on it, I measure it with love and the feeling I want them to have it…..to me that’s just sad to set your standards on what someone gives you….hummmmm I could get onto a rant on this one so better just say…good post…LOL kat
Thanks Kat, I understand what you are saying. It’s a practice for us all, to work on expanding our heart and our attitude of abundance.
A wonderful reminder Karen. I am grateful for you. ❤
Diana xo
Thankyou Diana, I appreciate your comments.
The law of attraction–it can work FOR you, or AGAINST you. Your call…. Such a good reminder, Karen. Your wise words and thoughtful posts are one of the things that I am very grateful for… ☺️
So true Lori, it can definitely work for or against us. I am very grateful too and appreciate your comments.
I love this Karen, and it is so true. Sometimes this happens in my immediate family, when I wish to give from my heart and in return am judged around it isn’t enough, or that I could have should have done more and then I stop giving at all because I have been judged so harshly. Thank you for sharing this today, as usual your words seem to have perfect timing for my heart.
So many people live in a place of scarcity or “never enough.” No one can fill this void within us. Once we understand this, the world opens up and we receive everything we need. Thankyou for your kind words and support.
All too often, it seems, we treat life as a sort of accounting balance sheet, calculating what we shall receive in return for whatever it is that we give. We do this on the emotional level in romantic relationships too, perhaps to an even greater degree, as our ‘investment’ in the other is always so weighty in terms of its cost to ourselves. Who is prepared to love without being loved in return? Is love that demands a return truly worthy of the title?
I agree Hariod. All the conditions and balance sheets leave no room for expansion and growth. When we are prepared to love without return, we know true abundance. Thankyou.
makes me happier to eat
a couple less slices, today, Karen 🙂
Always makes me happy to read your comments David. Thankyou.
It always amazes me to see so much anger, fear and hostility in the world when it is just as simple to witness beauty and experience happiness. I am still searching the anatomy of the mind for the region that chooses pain over pleasure.
It is a balance Jonathan. We all have to practice keeping this energy flowing freely around us and within us. Thankyou.
Gratitude and generosity. It’s all a mirror, like you said, Karen. Feeling abundant, not just thinking about it. Wise post, Karen, as always. ❤
Mary
It is a belief and an energy within us, I see so many who do not feel this within. It is a gift. Thankyou Mary.
Good story. I am so very grateful for what I have. I have more than I need (things-wise). I am paring down. I have more house than I need but the market where I live is awful and I cannot sell at such a loss. So I stay. But I can afford my house and it keeps me warm (or cool) and dry and safe. For that I am thankful.
Beautiful Emilie. Feeling grateful is a wonderful expansion of abundance. Thankyou.
Wonderful post.
I am feeling abundant Elizabeth! I will send lots of it to you too. Thankyou.
This is so true, Karen. I have experienced it myself so many times. But I’m still work in progress ☺️ beautiful post!
Me too Helen, always a work in progress ❤️❤️
This is a great story ~ and sure is how I would imagine the perfect world to be 🙂 While I do not want to say I fully believe in karma, I do find that the more I give there seems to be a greater return. Wonderful post!
It’s true, in giving freely, I always seem to be abundant! it’s the law of attraction. Have an abundant week Randall. 😊
I’m enjoying imagining a version of this story where the same bread and butter are changing hands, and the two are perfectly happy and grateful for what is given and received. I think we start making our tallies when we’re trying to understand a moment of discontentedness. We try to find out why we’re not pleased with the present. And so we find these ways to place it on another’s back… These simple stories can have so many layers!
Peace
Michael
These stories do have many layers Michael and your are right, how we react when we are not pleased in the present, is always a choice. Peace to you also.
I know this story! But I think it was told when talking about hypocrisy.
If you are in bad situation, and then think about how abundant you really are, it really works. It relieves you, gives you more motivation and hope.
It does work! It is exactly the way to abundance 💚💚❤️
Karen the days I grumble about what I don’t have, bring me down. If I start with my morning gratitude about still being here and break it right down to that. Life is good.
Yes I agree. It’s a daily check on our attitude that makes the difference! Thanks Kath ❤️
Thanks, Karen. You know I love abundance! I recently posted a blog about gratitude mindfulness practices that I thought you might enjoy: https://blog.ibm.jobs/2016/04/22/the-goodness-of-gratitude-more-ways-to-practice-mindfulness-and-cultivate-gratitude-and-appreciation/ Vicki
Love the blog Vicki , you give great practical examples of how we can merge mindfulness into our daily routine! Thanks for sharing ❤️💚💚
