Commitment

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

There is one elemental truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans – that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves all.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would come his or her way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it, commit to it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

These quotes are motivational and remind us what it means to stay committed to our dreams and goals and how magic happens when we don’t give up or give in.

If we are not ready to face the unknown, to face our doubts, to face our fears and be patient for the right time, then we are not committed.

Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?
The Master doesn’t seek fulfillment.
Not seeking, not expecting,
she is present, and can welcome all things.
– Lao Tsu

Keep going, keep motivated, stay present and committed!

  1. Karen,
I love the line – Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?

It is truly a gift to be able to stop seeking and stop expecting but just be open to whatever may come our way. The real balance is having a dream, pursuing it but not forcing it all to happen at once. You never know what is just around the corner – magic happens!

    Beautiful post thanks Karen.

    1. Thankyou Mel, we seem to inspire each other and you are right, it’s the balance to committ and yet, still allow! Always worth the effort.

  2. Beautiful quotes! it reminds me of La Fontaine…
“by time and toil we sever what strength and rage could never.”
    Thank your dear Karen :-)♥

    1. I love that quote by Fontaine too Frederic! “Time and toil” and yes! I have lived that many times. Thankyou.

  3. Hey Karen I am committed but I never realised how slow it all is. It feels like I will never finish my picture book and then I look back and see I have another image done and I just need to keep going. But it is a hard lesson and I know when I actually do finish it I will celebrate all that hard work. Thanks for inspiring me to keep going. I am committed and it feels right.

    1. It does seem slow at times Kath. I am excited for you about your book, and it will be finished exactly in the right time. Practising commitment is a great gift of courage and strength and you definitely have that quailty.

  4. “Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?”

    Marvellous metaphor and wisdom.

    1. Thankyou Don for your comment. Sometimes I do not have the patience for the mud to settle, but when I do, its worth the waiting!

    1. Thank you Carol. It is important for us to define our goals, as it gives us a stronger understanding of our direction and I think this helps our commitment.
