The Price of Peace

Deep peace is earned, not given.

To enter its sacred space, we need to find room for the unwanted parts of ourselves, and to have the courage to change.

K Lang

‘No one tells you that true peace begins with pain.

That before it softens you, it undoes you.

How it makes you kneel before your own darkness until you can hold it’s gaze without trembling.

You do not find it.

Peace finds you when you no longer try to escape yourself. First it undresses your illusions. Then it hands you a mirror.

It makes you walk barefoot through the wreckage of everything you once held onto for safety and finds you when you finally stop running from yourself and your wounds.

Peace changes the way you see the world, the way you speak and the way you listen.

It’s the stillness that only comes after full movement has been expressed.

Deep peace isn’t neutral. It’s fierce. It leaves you changed forever before it rests in you.’

This beautiful poem was written by Sophia – from Journal of the Soul.

  1. And so beautifully written Karen, it touches you each word as you say it. Sophia has indeed been on that journey, its wisdom speaks so profoundly. As your words do also kind lady, your journey has also touched that inner love.

A great post, and thank you for sharing its depth. May we all walk its path and be free in that understanding ❤️🙏

    1. They are beautiful words of truth and wisdom that we all have an opportunity to feel and honour within us. Thank you for your kind words Mark 🙏🏻💞

  2. Wow wow 😮

Deep peace isn’t neutral. It’s fierce. It leaves you changed forever before it rests in you.’

I am getting glimpses of this lately and I didn’t realize I could apply these words to it. It’s starting to settle into me. There’s more. There’s a way to protect it that’s fierce but it’s not like the old protections, the old running away…

It’s more like a firm decision about what matters.

Thank you for posting this! I’m so curious about what I will learn next!

    1. Isn’t it beautiful! I was also struck by her words, ‘peace is fierce.’ And it’s true, once we know who we are and feel safe and grounded in that truth you cannot disturb this space within!

I’m learning all the time too Ka, more about my power and resilience, and my ability to dream the impossible into being. Blessings to you during this transformative time! 👏👏
