The small things of life were often so much bigger than the great things . . . the trivial pleasure like cooking, one’s home, little poems especially sad ones, solitary walks, funny things seen and overheard.

Home from our overseas trip, and very happy to be back on Australian land, I began to reminisce and realize yet again, that it wasn’t the big experiences on my trip that touched me, but all the little things.
A beautiful hug from my daughter who I haven’t seen in a year.
Finding a yoga mat in our London Airbnb when I didn’t have room for one in my bag.
The Uber driver who went above and beyond to help us find our accommodation.
To our beautiful Italian friends who we haven’t seen for many years, made us a delicious lunch and generously offered us more wine from their winery than we paid for!
To the chef who took the time to make fresh risotto, not because it was on the menu, but because I asked for it.
For the historical stories and tours I went on in Austria and Ireland, reminded me how resilient the women and men were back then and how abundant and blessed our lives are now.
For the warmest smile I have ever felt from an Irish man who waited as we shared one lane on the road.
Seeing a Falcon and an Eagle hover above me when we were driving on a freeway!
For the kindness of strangers whenever we asked for guidance or directions.
Wow. So beautifully true.
Yes and means so much more. Thank you Cindy 🧡🥰

I couldn‘t comment on this post because I no longer found it on Jetpack…. now the moment has come!
I was very fondly touched by your description- what a ‚life in a year‘. It IS indeed all the little signs of love and appreciation that make the fabric of our life – it is inviting a lonely friend to a meal, accompany another to a boat cruise so that they have 4hrs just with their ‚soul bin‘ as I call it. I seem to invite ppl‘s confessions and life stories and if they need someone to listen, crack a joke from time to time and maybe tell a ‚breadcrumb‘ or a lesson to a similar problem from my life, bringing a single flower to an pain-afflicted neighbour, it‘s such small, even tiny signs of joy and love that weave our soul‘s shirt. And let‘s not forget – we are not only giver or recipient, we are also every single time in the position of receiver/giver. I‘m sure not everybody would have cooked you a risotto – but the chef gained an inner joy too, and seeing those majestic birds might not only given you joy but they could have said: Oh look, these kind ppl down here will be happy to see us! 😉
The small joys and moments with others mean so much. And Yes, I agree, I am grateful to receive these gifts. Thank you Kiki 🧡🙏🏻🧡
