‘The truth is not always beautiful, nor beautiful words, the truth.’
β Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
A man wanting to relocate, went to visit a new village and because he wanted to know what living there would be like, he went to see the Zen Master and asked, ‘Do you think I will like it here in the village? ‘Are the people nice?’
The Master took his time to answer and then asked the man, ‘What were the people like in the town where you came from?’
The man answered, ‘They were disrespectful, angry, and were always cheating and stealing.’
‘Well these are exactly the type of people who live here in this village,’ said the Master.
A few days later, another newcomer came to the village and also asked the Master the same question, to which he answered, ‘What were the people like in the town where you came from?
‘They were kind, lived in harmony, and cared for the land and one another. They were respectful and were seekers of truth,’ said the newcomer.
‘Well these are exactly the type of people who live in this village,’ said the Master.

I love this story and quote, Karen. The understanding that happiness is truly just right in front of us if we can adjust the way we think and feel ~ we do bring life upon ourselves… yet even knowing this, our human nature continues to make it hard for us π Wishing you a beautiful finish to the week ~
Yes ha we are slow learners!! But understanding we can shift out of it anytime is a gift. Thanks Randall, have a great weekend too π

What a lovely story Karen. It makes me think of the fact that we get what we seek. It goes hand in hand with the laws of karma and the universe. what you give is what you receive.
So true. Itβs a great reminder. Thank you ππ»
Karen, the Zen Master must have also been the mayor of the village.
