Feelings are just visitors, let them come and go. – Mooji
A student went to see his meditation teacher and said, “My situation is unbearable! I feel so distracted most of the time, my legs ache, my body is in pain and I cannot sit still. I can’t go on.”
The teacher replied matter-of-factly, “That’s okay. It will pass.”
A week later, the student returned to his teacher. “My meditation is wonderful! I feel so ecstatically joyous and alive! Now I understand everything!”
The teacher told him: “That’s okay. It will pass.”
Zen Story
Every transient experience we have in life will pass easily if we do not attach a feeling, story, or belief about it. We only suffer when we allow the mind to hold onto that which is always moving, like clouds in the sky.
Sometimes I think our minds are like those sticky notes everywhere, buried in chatter. Wise words dear lady 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
I agree Mark. It’s definitely a practice to ignore the chatter and story telling of the mind 😌
Very nice story…and reminder, Karen. After I read this, I was immediately reminded of Rumi’s “The Guest House.” It has been my go-to poem many times over the years, and I am reading it frequently these days.
I love that poem too Carrie and during these times is definitely the wisdom we need. 🙏🏻🧡
what a wonderful way to put feelings into perspective…
I agree Jim. 🙏🏻🌈 Thank you
Oh, I love this, Karen. I have found this to be so true in my life.
It’s a gift to let the clouds of thought and feeling pass each day. Thank you Michele🧡🌈
Wise words! ❤
Thanks Eliza 🙏🏻🧡
Haha what a great reminder – makes me laugh a bit for how true it is!
Ha! Yes our minds are quite insane! Constantly changing. 🤗🧡🌈
Very wise – I also like parable about the farmer who loses his horses – could be good or could be bad. Thank you!
I love that parable too Michelle. To stay in this natural state of being is our freedom. But it can be challenging! 🧡🤗
Such a great thought and understanding to be able to come back to when needed. There are times where I can be frustrated, and taking a step back ~ re-thinking or simply understanding the situation (and irrelevancy of my frustration) things move back to center. What can be more difficult, is when on a high and feeling good, not to lose sight of the center either 🙂 Thank you very much, Karen, wishing you well this coming weekend.
I agree Randall, maintaining a neutral position in every experience isn’t what we feel familiar with! Reminding ourselves to find our ‘center’is the practice. Thank you and Have a great weekend too 🤗
Thank you for shar8ng this wisdom. Stories are so powerful.
Sending love and ease for your Sunday 💝
I love these stories too Val. Sending love to you too 🥰🧡
If it will pass, then let it go.
-Alan
Yes. It always passes, however the challenge is letting it go.
That’s the rub Karen. The remedy to that challenge is hope supported by faith.
-Alan
I like that Alan. You have a gift in simplifying truth and wisdom. 🙏🏻😊
Excellent post Karen on “Living in the present moment”. 💐
Thank you Prakaash. 🙏🏻😊
