Wise souls, leaving self behind
And setting self aside
So why let the self go?
To keep what the soul needs.
Ursula K Le Guin Tao Te Ching
Chuang-tzu once told a story about two persons who both lost a sheep. One person got very depressed and lost himself in drinking and gambling to try to forget this misfortune.
The other person decided that this would be an excellent chance for him to study the classics and quietly observe the subtleties of nature.
Both men experienced the same misfortune, but one man lost himself because he was too attached to the experience of loss, while the other found himself because he was able to let go.
When we feel stuck and trapped in our limited stories
Create some space

What does your soul need?

To finally see the forest for the tree’s, so to speak. It did take some work to step back and not be so ‘focused’ on living…and see the life around it. Great post Karen, thank you 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
I agree Mark. When we step back and pause, it always creates a new perspective 🙏🏻
Wow, fantastic Karen! ❤️
Thank you Lori 💚🌈
Thank you 🌈🧡
Learning to let go is probably one of the hardest things to do, but so important in moving on and flowing. I think we all need to give ourselves more space to grow. Wonderful post Karen.
So true Michele. We cannot let go without creating sacred space for ourselves and our needs. Thank you 🌈🧡
I want to be the guy who reads the classics…
I’m sure you already are Jim 😉
I could do better…
We all can ha! 🙏🏻
Such a lovely invitation. Thank you.
It is. Thank you so much Vicki 🥰🌈
Ah, good lesson. It is odd how sometimes we get stuck, failing to see the exit, when all we have to do is turn on the light switch. 🙂
Yes we definitely make it hard on ourselves Eliza!! The light switch is always there 💡 ✨💡✨💡
Timeless wisdom you post and discuss here, Karen. For everyone who lives life, this is the one essential piece of wisdom to hold dear, as it becomes so necessary to find yourself so you can let go. Beautiful.
That’s exactly how we let go Randall. The challenge is to create stillness each day to find our deepest sense of self and to let go of the rest. This wisdom changed my life. Thank you 🙏🏻
