“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

In a world where social media dictates who is successful or who is popular, we can lose sight of the truth; and this can lead us comparing ourselves to a fantasy, or a perfection that doesn’t exist.
Behind closed doors, behind the veil, behind the walls we have built between each other, lies our vulnerability and our truth. The more we share this with one another and the more we allow ourselves to be truly seen; the more freedom we will find in this moment.
“A Zen master had hundreds of disciples. They all prayed at the right time, except one, who was always drunk.
The master was growing old. Some of the more virtuous pupils began to wonder who would be the new leader of the group, the one who would receive the important secrets of the Tradition.
On the eve of his death, however, the master called the drunkard disciple and revealed the hidden secrets to him.
A veritable revolt broke out among the others.
“How shameful!” they cried in the streets, “We have sacrificed ourselves for the wrong master, one who can’t see our qualities.”
Hearing the commotion outside, the dying master remarked, “I had to pass on these secrets to a man that I knew well. All my pupils are very virtuous, and showed only their qualities. That is dangerous, for virtue often serves to hide vanity, pride and intolerance. That is why I chose the only disciple whom I know really well, since I can see his defect: drunkenness.”

Thanks Beth 💚💕
Allowing oneself to truly be seen. A struggle worth waging I have learned… xo
I agree Lori. Not at all easy, but deep down we understand, we step into our freedom each time we do. 💕💚💕
Another beautiful post from you.
We are all different. But in our vulnerable moments there are some essential similarities that emerge. As you write beautifully, “behind closed doors, behind the veil, behind the walls we have built between each other, lies our vulnerability and our truth”. What I am hiding from others, is actually not much different from what another person is hiding from the world. This is why sharing it brings us closer, and liberates us from the burden of carrying it all alone.
You have expressed it beautifully! It does liberate us, and connects us all deeply. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 💕💚
Wisdom!
Not easy to be vulnerable, but it connects us all to our humanness and belonging.
Agree!
I’ve never thought about vulnerabilities this way before. Thanks, Karen!
Thanks Jennifer! I love this perspective too 💕💚
Love this reminder, Karen. In our weaknesses, we find our strength.
Beautifully said Rosaliene!💚💕
The more we share this with one another and the more we allow ourselves to be truly seen; the more freedom we will find in this moment.- words worth putting into action.
I agree. This helps me remember how alike we are: no separation. Thanks Ali 💚💕
Thanks for the follow, Karen 🙂
We share defects, and that’s what I think. We all have the same defects. What an interesting story, and one to ponder 🤔! Maybe the overly virtuous were drunk on themselves!
Maybe? Ha 😀 We are always learning more about life and one another.
