Deep Knowing

“In the sweet territory of silence we touch the mystery. It’s the place of reflection and contemplation, and it’s the place where we can connect with the deep knowing, to the deep wisdom way.”   Angeles Arrien

I aspire to silence the voices,
That I might hear the One True Voice.
When that One True Voice is silenced,
I shall hear Everything.

Often we are so busy looking outwardly to solve our problems of stress,  health issues, or emotional pain or sadness, that we forget to listen and trust our voice within.

Our intuition, our deep knowing and our wisdom can be found in stillness. We only learn to trust this with practice each day.  Silencing the outside noise and our busy minds, we can learn to hear everything.

  1. Another one that is so important yet so difficult. Election season. How does one silence the outside voices? It seems to be a constant choir! And I don’t even have TV and there is almost no radio reception. Perhaps I should quit going online.

    1. It is a constant white noise out there Emilie. I find when I practice stillness each day, that I don’t find myself feeling caught in the drama or the stress of it all. We can learn to detach and breathe through it. 🙏🏻

  2. This is such a great calming and insightful piece Karen, “the sweet territory of silence we touch the mystery. It’s the place of reflection and contemplation” and it is this place that seems to be an important retreat for everyone to take a deep breath and figure out all that the world/life throws our way. Brilliant, and I need to read this post often to remind myself 🙂

  3. I so agree, Karen. And now I look forward to a period of silence in the northern woodlands and connecting to my inner wisdom.

  4. So very true, Karen! That silence can be cultivated from within, although tricky in today’s busy and loud outside world. I try to do morning pages, when I write three pages longhand in my journal about whatever comes to my mind. Seems focus my mind in the early hours before the chaos of the day begins.

Thank you for the lovely post!

  5. That is what I try to do in my meditations but sometimes my mind won’t rest I gather energy and ideas for art and its hard to stop the creative flow and just quiet that active mind. But Im getting better at letting the stuff come and then letting it go.
