Expansion

Don’t you notice that there are particular moments when you are naturally inspired to introspection? Work with them gently, for these are the moments when you can go through a powerful experience, and your whole worldview can change quickly.”  – Sogyal Rinpoche

In expanding our minds to open and think differently, we will find a limitless expression of love, joy, worthiness and abundance.

We contract this gift of expansion with emotions such as anger, greed, ego and fear and when we react to these emotions, it empowers them and binds us even tighter in the chains of delusion, therefore limiting us.

With practice, we can rise above our emotions and thoughts that keep us trapped into believing there is nothing more to learn or change.  Keeping our minds and life busy makes us full and tight and does not allow space and access to expansive wisdom about who we can be.

Over the years I have complicated my life with too many thoughts and fears and this has limited my perspective and finding the truth.  These are contracting thoughts.  Expanding our thoughts is the ability to solve complicated matters by simply understanding each part thoroughly.  As each part of the chaos or challenge is understood, the overall structure of the complication begins to weaken.

Through practising yoga, meditation and stillness I became aware and conscious of more space.  More space to see and expand my thoughts and my potential in life.  This helped me focus and reflect on my mind’s true nature.  Anger, fear and fixation are all created by our mind’s belief that appearances are real. When I allow stillness in amongst any chaos, I find solutions for my challenges and from that place I learn how to let go of my contracting emotions and open a bigger space in my heart.

Living with vision and inspiration comes from letting go of what we have always known and this requires an effort.  When I opened my mind and faced myself,  I became conscious of who I was when I was stressed and calm.  I began to understand why I reacted the way I did from past beliefs and why I created limitations to change.  I started to see that when I expanded myself to see a bigger picture in life, I learnt how to resolve it differently.

Expansion will  bring us back to our radiance and spaciousness of our true being.  It is stepping out beyond our comfort zone and realising we are worthy of so much more.  It is being open to connect to our expansive inner wisdom, love and light.

  1. Karen, I love this! 🙂
Creating expansion and spaciousness is what my yoga teaching is all about. I believe that there is a powerful mind and body connection here. When we can create this spaciousness in our body and access our prana/life energy we can release the blocks and contractions that have built up in our minds and bodies. The mind and body work in unison and allows release, healing and radiance. Yoga recognizes these emotional/energy blocks as granthis.
    Great post!

  2. Thanks Val, your comment is so true and you know because you have taught it. Yoga is a gift and has given me spaciousness and released many blocks and wounds in my body! Understanding this, I am always encouraging Yoga as a healing tool to expand.
