Love makes a difference

“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”  – Mahatma Gandhi

How can we make a difference in our own life or another’s?  How often do we say “Somebody, should do something about that, only to realise, we are that somebody?

I think we sometimes believe, to make a difference in this world it needs to be on a grand scale, but for me, making a difference means being aware.

Being awake and aware of my surroundings and the people who are in my world.  Being able to see and feel what needs to be done at this very moment.  Sometimes it can just be about having time to nurture myself or giving myself time and space to re-balance.  Other times it maybe to give a friend some encouragement or help a family less fortunate than mine.

There are many opportunities to make a choice and look around and see how we can contribute and lighten the load of pain firstly in ourselves, and then in others.

There is so much pain and heaviness in the world and yet, when we look more deeply, we can also see inspiration, love and hope.  It just depends on how we look at it.

A kind word, a hug, a text to someone feeling low, will always be received more deeply than you believe.  Any effort, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, may give someone the opportunity to shift from where they are and remember they are worthy of love and kindness and believe there is hope amidst their pain.

We can all be apart of this change.
