Waiting To Shine

‘When dark clouds and shadows move through your life, remember the light of the sun is always behind them, waiting to shine.’ – Karen Lang

A man went to a Buddhist monastery for a silent retreat. After he finished, he felt better, calmer, stronger, but something was missing. The teacher said he could talk to one of the monks before he left.

The man thought for a while, then asked: “How do you find peace?”

The monk said: “I say yes. To everything that happens, I say yes.”

When the man returned home, he was enlightened.

Zen Story

While we naturally long for only sunshine and light in our life, I realised this morning as I watched the dark clouds move across the sun, that it’s not the darkness that burdens us, or the challenges that arise; rather, it’s because we have forgotten that the constant light behind the clouds, and within ourselves, remains unwavering.

  1. We ever seem to be awaiting our own permission to shine Karen, ‘because’ of this or that. But one day it will come on, and stay. Great post kind lady, may we one day truly learn that it is ever there 🤗❤️🙏

  2. A beautiful reflection, Karen: the inner light is never lost—only hidden for a time, even in the darkest moments. The Zen story of saying “yes” is such an uplifting perspective; great post for a Monday 😊! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
