‘Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds.
The harvest can either be flowers or weeds.’ — William Wordsworth
‘Once upon a time in ancient China, there lived a farmer who planted many seeds for the new harvest.
Each day he went to the field to watch the seedlings grow.
Finally, the young shoots began to break through the soil and the farmer could visualise the future harvest, but after a week of watching this, he became very impatient with the plants and believed they were growing too slowly.
The next morning, he had an idea to help the young plants grow faster.
He knelt down in the soil and began pulling up the young shoots one by one, by half an inch. When he finished pulling, it was already late morning and as he straightened his back, he happily said to himself, ‘Look! the shoots have grown so much taller in one morning!’
He then travelled back home and proudly shared this news with his son. His son was shocked to hear what his father had done, however, he did not speak of his concerns.
The next morning after sunrise, the farmer excitedly went down to see his new harvest, but instead he found his plants had died.’
Tao Story
Most of us have learned by now, no matter how many seeds we plant in life, the universe has it’s own timeline, and rarely matches up with our ideas, plans, or expectations.
However, what I continue to understand, is there is a harmonious balance between action and surrender, and when we get that right, we can always trust, ‘what is meant for us, will never pass us by.’
Yes, I’m sure, the universe has it’s own timeline, and rarely matches up with our ideas, plans, or expectations.
Absolutely! 🙏🏻🌈
beautiful
Thank you Beth 🌿💞🌿
💕 🙏🏼 Wise words!
Thank you Eliza! 💞🌿💞
I think our own (innocent) ignorance gets us into trouble! Thinking we can “cheat” nature even with good intentions… “pulling up the shoots.” Your post is exactly in sync with mine! Wowsers! Thank you dear, Karen💕💕💕
Yes it’s so true Ka! We actually believe at times we can control our life! It’s a hard lesson to learn, but finding the balance of harmony within is our freedom. Thank you 💞 🌿💞
I want to add that I think we can nurture aspects of our lives and relationships, and definitely get to co-create. We get to “put our order in” so to speak, but we definitely cannot control outcomes. 🩵🩵🩵
I so appreciate you, Karen!! Thank you.
Totally agree Ka! 👏 We definitely have a part to play in co- creating our dreams and goals. I appreciate you 🌈💞
Beautiful post Karen, I think the love ‘knows’ that timeline for each and every one of us. We’ll learn, if slowly, and maybe a few too many weeds (chocolates) gone by in our growth 🤣❤️🙏
Yes we are always learning Mark with chocolates and control 😜thank you 🌿🌈
Haha, I’ve got some somewhere…um, control that is 🤣❤️🙏
Great post, so good to me. Thank you so much. Karen.
Vicky
Thank you Vicky. I’m glad 💞💞
This is really beautiful, Karen, and encouraging to flow with the universe not against it. Everything in due time.
To deeply trust in this truth is our freedom and I am still learning it Michele! Thank you
🌿💞🌈
Plant generously. Celebrate what happens to Bloom.
Exactly Ali! 👏👏 Well said. 🍀💞
Words of wisdom. I love the Wordsworth quote.
Yes it’s a great quote! Thank you Carol 💞🌈🍀
This parable is a nice reminder to respect the natural flow of life—a lesson I find especially powerful this time of year. As always, Karen, your words resonate deeply: sometimes our greatest wisdom is learning when to act, and when to step back and trust. The Wordsworth quote is perfect.
Yes I agree, knowing when to move and when to step back and trust is a practice! Thank you for your kind words. 🙏🏻🍀
Thanks for sharing this story, Karen. No reason why you can’t pull up young shoots, but at the same time you can’t rush the process of growth. ‘the universe has it’s own timeline.’ I so agree with this. It’s like the seasons around us – they just know when to change every quarter, sometimes earlier and sometimes later. Are you based in Australia? I’m in Melbourne and this story reminded me of how the trees here have turned green now that we are deep into Spring – a time of growth 😊
Nature definitely knows the perfect timing for change and growth! 🍀Yes I am in Australia too. It’s a beautiful place to live. Thank you Mabel. 🙏🏻
So lovely to meet a fellow blogger in Australia. Doesn’t happen that often. Wishing you well, Karen 😊
Love this Karen 💞 So glad to reconnect in this different format.
P.s. I would also like to like others comments, but it isn’t available.
Thank you Val! 💞 And yes, We are always being asked to move and change into different forms in life! 🙏🏻
As I was reading, I knew what would happen. And then I also could think of times in my life when I thought I could “help” the timeline along. Never works 😉 Thanks for the reminder. It is especially important to me right now as I am contemplating the timing of a few events in my life. ❤
So true Lorrie. I have definitely tried to help many times!! 😅 To surrender and to trust, ‘what I seek is seeking me,’ is our freedom. Thank you for being here. 💞💞
What I seek…is seeking me! YES! 😊💜
