The only way to make sense out of change, is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
Alan Watts
‘The principle is that any time we decide to voluntarily let up controlling our life, in other words, cease to cling to ourselves; we have an excess of power.
Because we are wasting energy all the time in self-defence. Trying to manage things, trying to force situations and people to conform to our will. The moment we stop doing that, this wasted energy becomes available to us!
In that sense, having this energy available to us we become one with the divine principle, and we begin to move with life and not against it.
The more we surrender our control in life, the more it comes back.’
Alan Watts
I love this reminder from Alan Watts and from my own experiences trying to control life, the main reason we don’t want to give up control is simply because we are afraid to admit we don’t know or are afraid to move away from what we have always done!
However, discovering my power and my freedom requires me to constantly step out of my comfort zones and trust in the unknown.
Holding on tightly to any situation, and resisting life as it is, not only depletes our energy, but prevents us from receiving the flow of abundance.
This is a most timely message for me. I’m in this contemplation right now and tossing out old habits. I’m assessing and observing areas where I have wasted energy or grasped for control and the list goes on. Lots of letting go right now, and right on time for me! 🌟💗🪷
Oh it’s a lesson I continue to learn too Ka! 💕 But I’m really seeing and feeling an ease move through me and my life, each time I loosen my grip! Here’s to letting go 👏
✨🙌🏻✨
Wise words! Certainly the truth, what we resist persists. 🙂
I agree Eliza. Letting go has really opened me to receive more and be more in life. Thank you 🧡💕
Powerfully spoken Karen, sharing something that takes great courage to find and dare it in our lives. It opened my eyes truly to see it in another way, thank you for describing so beautifully and sharing another path 😀❤️🙏
It really does take courage to step out into the unknown. A lesson I am still trusting in Mark. Thank you and May we all learn to let go and let be. 🙏🏻💕
Indeed kind lady, and I think we will have that courage, this life encourages it. Thank you for sharing yours 😀❤️🙏
Karen, this is such an important and timely message for us all…especially for those of us who’ve found comfort in control…until we don’t. The freedom to be is among the most precious gifts we have that sadly remains unopened for so long because of the underlying fear that we live for myriad reasons. As I relinquish the control that I thought I had, presence and flow become the way to be, to live and to thrive. Thank you, Karen. Your post inspired and reminded me of what continues to be possible for us to lead our lives authentically rather than from fear. 🙏🏻💕
Thank you Carrie, a beautiful comment of truth. The choice to step into the unknown is never easy, but is the portal to our freedom.
A wonderful and important message, Karen.
Thank you Michele 💕🧡
Sometimes, it is difficult to do something that seems contradictory to our nature, but it is necessary to understand our nature further and create the freedom to move to the next step waiting for us. Beautiful post, Karen. It’s such an important message.
I absolutely agree it feels contrary to our nature! Hence why we all need to practice a lot ha. 😅
Thank you Randall 🙏🏻
Struggling mightily at the moment to release fear-based behaviors and responses, Karen. This message hits me squarely in the gut. Have printed it out for easy reference and frequent reminders. ❤️
It’s not easy to face Lori, and what can really help start the process is to simply observe what triggers these fears in us and observe the what allows them to pass, because they always pass.
For me, It was the fear of my fears arising that kept them strong.
With practice they can definitely be released. Sending lots of love 🧡
Spot on, Karen!
To let go is a difficult thing to do, until we find that we have more control without it.
In Dante Aleghieri’s “Divine Comedy”, the line that sums up the entire classic poem about Hell, Purgatory and Heaven is simply, “In His will is our peace.”
To gain all give up all.
-Alan
Yes I totally agree Alan. Great quote. We do find peace in the surrender of our control. 🧡Thank you 🙏🏻
Wise words and a wonderful reminder. Thanks, Karen. ❤
Thank you Carol 🩷💕
