Right Here. Right Now.

If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything, it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s mind, there are few.
― Shunryu Suzuki

A woman told Suzuki Roshi she found it difficult to mix Zen practice with the demands of work, family, and life.

I feel like I am trying to climb a ladder. But for every step upward, I slip backward two steps.”

“Forget the ladder,” Suzuki told her. In Zen, everything is right here, right now on the ground.”

  1. I gradually stopped making so much noise and listened karen, and in that silence I heard something. Something that had always been there but I was too afraid to listen. Now we both chatter like monkeys, in that silence of the heart…because we don’t have to talk through that armour of fear any more. Great post kind lady, right now does indeed take us beyond it all 😀❤️🙏

      1. Me too, Karen. I’ve been trying to listen to myself say “slow down” and also “master never hurries and is always on time.” I’m afraid I’m trapped in the my conditioning more than I’d like. So I’m telling on myself 😂💗 Hugs 🤗 Thanks for a great post.

      2. Well you are aware of this habit like me, and thats good because it creates space for us to question our actions each day and let go just a little bit more! Hopefully…ha 🩷
