Search Within

“If you are unable to find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?”  – Dogen

Why do we search outwardly for answers?  Why do we not believe that we hold the key and wisdom to all our questions?

Most of us when feeling discontented can think it’s easier to blame our circumstances for our unhappiness or shift the blame to others, like our boss, colleague, partner or family.

Blaming outside influences and circumstances to be the reason why we are not happy, diminishes our motivation and drive to take responsibility for all that we create in our life.

It is often the need for approval and acceptance that encourages us to allow the opinion or advice of others to override our dreams.   When this internal pressure is created the tendency is to abandon our dreams.   In order to grow and achieve, we must map out our own destiny, set our own goals and develop our own action plan.

Overtime, you will learn to trust your intuition and wisdom and no-one will be able to tell you or pressure you on how to live your life.  At the same time, no-one can be blamed when it doesn’t go according to plan.

“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.”  – Johann Wolgang von Goethe

Allow yourself time each day in stillness and meditation.  You will find overtime this is your solution to find clarity and understanding, no matter what your circumstances are.

Take responsibility to find what is right for you, no-one is the same and we all offer a unique and wonderful contribution to each other and the universe.

Search for your answers within and you will always find your truth and your destiny.

“What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve.”  – Norman Vincent Peale

Allow

When we place conditions on ourselves and others in life, we do not allow.  Fear and control keep us bound in this place of wanting to know everything and yet there are no certainties in life, only choices.

It seems to me that one of the greatest stumbling blocks in life is this constant struggle to reach, to achieve, to acquire and why we are busy doing that, we are not seeing.  We are not aware that we are blocking the flow of abundance and love coming towards us.

When we allow instead of expect, we will not be so stressed and disappointed when things don’t go according our controlled thought patterns.

Find a quiet spot in nature and just be.  Inhale and exhale deeply.  See yourself connected to everything around you and breathe.  Allow this moment to sink in and know it is the only moment you have.  Be still and know.  Visualise your dreams everyday and then let them go.  Don’t try to control how they come to you.  There is a perfect plan for all of us and in this place of stillness you will find your answers.

“With no expectations anything can become.”  – Steven Farmer

Breathe

“We too should make ourselves empty, that the great soul of the universe may fill us with its breath.”   – Lawrence Binyon

Have you ever noticed how you are breathing?  Most of us would not be aware how much we hold our breath in times of stress, until we inhale and exhale deeply.

When stressed, our shoulders go up, our throat constricts and we breathe shallow breaths.  This overtime, starts to feel like a normal state and our bodies adjust to this shallow breathing and yet physically, we limit precious oxygen to our organs and overtime when starved of this oxygen, we eventually become sick.

How important is our breath? and yet we constantly take it for granted.  Become conscious of your breathing everyday and the intent of inhaling and exhaling, letting go of what you no longer need.  Practising this daily will give you clarity and connect you to this moment.

Below are some wonderful exercises to do in your meditation.  You will feel amazing after you have done them and will respect once again the “Breath of life.”

The Breath and Creative Thought

The best time to program your Subconscious Mind is when you inhale.  The thought that is emanating from the brain is carried along the etheric system. Once the air enters the lungs, the blood in the lungs is oxygenated. Retaining your breath does not help to store up etheric energy, however, whilst you are holding your breath, you can use that point in time to hold strong the thought of what you wish to manifest.

The breathing exercise below is designed to help you manifest what you want.

Sit with your back straight, relaxed and comfortable.

Think about what it is you really want. Visualize it. Feel it. See yourself with it. Feel what it is like to have it in your life.

 LEFT NOSTRIL BREATHING

Now connect with your Spiritual Heart (this is to the right of your heart chakra and in line with your physical heart) and drop into the silence. Feel it. Stay with this.

Close your right nostril and inhale through the left. Exhale slowly.

Keep inhaling and exhaling out of the left nostril – 7 times in total.

 RIGHT NOSTRIL BREATHING

Reconnect with your desire, feel, experience, visualize, affirm.

Close your left nostril and inhale through the right. Exhale slowly.

Keep inhaling and exhaling out of the right nostril – 7 times in total.

Continue this practise for ten minutes.

Remember to affirm and visualize only whilst breathing through the right nostril.

Anytime during the day that you feel tension or anxiety arising, go to where you feel the contraction in your body and simply breathe slowly, deeply, gently, whilst your connection with the contracted energy.  Gradually this will dissolve in the spaciousness of your breath.

“Breathing involves a continual oscillation between exhaling and inhaling, offering ourselves to the world at one moment and drawing the world into ourselves at the next…”   – David Abram

Love me …Love you

“The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.”  C G Jung

I have written about Anita Moorjani before from her book “Dying to be me.”  The following is some of the amazing wisdom from her book.

Consciously live in each moment, live in that space which is within us all.  Breathe in that moment and cherish it as if it was your last.  If there is something you desire, the idea is to not go out externally and get it, but to expand your consciousness to allow universal energy to bring into your reality.

Remind everyone close to you to be themselves, and tell them that you love them just the way they are! Most suffering stems from feeling “less than”.  You are not less than anything or anyone.  You are complete.

The only thing you need to learn is that you already are what you are seeking to attain.  Express yourself fearlessly with abandon.

When we are true to ourselves, we become instruments of truth for the planet.  Because we are all connected, we touch the lives of everyone around us, who then affects others.  Our only obligation is to be the love we are and allow our answers to come from within.

Enjoy yourself and do not take life so seriously.  Day-to-day problems never seem as big, when viewed through a veil of humour and love.  Laugh more, be serious less.

In the midst of worrying about everything that is wrong out there, do not forget to enjoy each moment and to take care of what’s inside.

When we realise we are love, and that love is the answer for the many issues that we face each day, then tomorrow make a promise to yourself, and love yourself enough to keep that promise.

“The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself.” – Steve Maraboli

The simple Life

The sensory overload of our world is slowly stressing us out.  We’ve got so much to do, so many balls to juggle and when we can’t find time for stillness or time to slow down our minds from its constant chatter, our health pays the price.

“Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.”
John De Paola

Life is a matter of working out what brings you the most joy and doing it as often as possible.  We don’t like our jobs, our homes, we don’t even like ourselves, so why do we complicate life so much?

“All of us should strive to learn before we die, what we are running from, and to, and why?” James Thurber

Why do we wait for a diagnosis to start looking after our health and realise how short and precious life really is.  If we are not doing what we really want in life, whose fault is that? Why do we find it so difficult to stand in our truth and believe we deserve more?

I believe why people run so fast and hard through life is because slowing down, confronts them to see who they have become and to know they are not living the truth they so desperately want to.

Speed is a source of stimulation and fleeting pleasure whereas slowing down is a route to depth, more enduring satisfaction, and to excellence.

To change anything in life, we need to understand the patterns we have adopted and how we continue to create stress in our life that we don’t need.  Our need for approval, and for constant certainty, only comes from control and fear.

Spending time in yoga, meditation and stillness will always lead you into a simpler life.  Through this regular stillness, you will find clarity and a deeper vision for the future.

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love…. time is eternity.

So this week start making small changes to simplify, savour and enjoy life rather than watch it speed by.

  1. Curl up in a favorite chair at some point after you return home from work and spend at least a half-hour reading a book purely for pleasure.
  2. Take the time to really listen to someone you love — to give that person the space to speak without interruption, for as long as it takes.
  3. Choose a place that interests you — it could be in the city or the country — and spend a couple of hours just exploring it without any specific end in mind.
  4. Buy a journal, and before you go to bed, take a few minutes to reflect on what you feel grateful for that day, and what went right.

Be who you want to be, when you want to be! Life is too short to be anyone else……..
