Moving through Anxiety

“Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”  – Corrie ten Boom

When we suffer from anxiety about any issue, know that there is a reason your body, mind and spirit are responding this way, so rather than feel embarrassed or silent about your anxiousness, try to understand it instead.

Anxiety is a feeling and an emotional state, so there are no blood tests to diagnose it.  Each person has their own concerns and fears and although you may not understand why someone could be scared or anxious in certain circumstances, you may find yourself in a situation one day where you too are anxious, without warning.

“Life is ten percent what you experience and ninety percent how you respond to it.” ― Dorothy M Neddermeyer

I used to get anxious about driving to areas I was unfamiliar with, after taking a wrong turn years ago.  I would google a map of the area and set out following each direction with great anxiety!  I always felt that travelling there was out of my control and held a fear that I might get lost.  What I thought would happen was only an illusion, as I never got lost and if I did, I somehow made my way back.

Energetically, anxiety makes us feel uncomfortable and unsafe and although these fears are usually illusions, they are still very real when you experience them.

At the time of our anxiety our energy is scattered and we do not feel safe in the environment we are in.  When you are anxious, the last thing you feel like doing is breathing and sitting in stillness because when anxiety sets in, we naturally want to resist it and so we fight the fear instead of allowing it in and then releasing it.

Anxiety is usually a problem with the base (root) chakra which represents our survival consciousness, when the first chakra is clear, we feel secure grounded and stable.  When we commit to a practice of stillness, meditation and breath, we learn to connect to Mother Earth and that allows us to ground our energy and feel safe.

“I promise you nothing is as chaotic as it seems. Nothing is worth your health. Nothing is worth poisoning yourself into stress, anxiety, and fear.” – Steve Maraboli

For some people, anxiety becomes so overwhelming that it takes over their lives. If you do not address anxiety, it will grow and to avoid medication, you need to work with your body rather than suppressing your body’s way of communicating with you that something is not balanced.

“You need to feel to heal.”

Yoga is also a great way to learn how to connect and control our breath.  In yoga, breath signifies your vital energy. Yoga teaches that controlling your breathing can help you control your body and quiet your mind.

Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety.

Respect your body and know that there are many practices to understand it and when you are in tune with your body, you will know how to balance your mind, body and spirit.

Healing through Love

“The conclusion is always the same; love is the most powerful and still the most unknown energy in the world.”  – Teilhard de Chardin

“Love heals all wounds”.  I am beginning to truly believe that statement.  Justifying our anger or allowing our ego to control us is not healing, it is and will always be love that heals our wounds.

Love, the great mystery of love, romantic love, motherly love, the magic of love, there are so many forms of love.  Love is the province of life, in which we all participate in various ways.

We all emerge from our childhood experiences with a longing to be loved.  Some more than others, depending on how you were taught to love.  Love wounds are not just restricted to the broken-hearted or love struck.  They are deep wounds from the beginning of birth for some and when we have been hurt over a long time, we start to build barriers around our heart to protect it.

The dilemma is that love requires us to be present and vulnerable and this can be very difficult for those who have been hurt.  For it is often when we are vulnerable that our wounds begin.  In order to break down the barriers we have built within us, we have to learn to trust others again and let others in.

“The strongest love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility.” – Paulo Coelho

Start by being kind and attentive to yourself.  When we nurture, love and accept ourselves, it will help begin to dissolve the barriers we have built.  If we continue to hold onto our pain and past hurts, we cannot receive the gift of love and abundance that we deserve.  We need to forgive, let go and allow.

“To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.”

If you feel that you are not loved, if you feel you are not appreciated, or that you do not deserve to be nurtured, then become conscious of your thoughts coming in and going out.  What is it, from your past that is stopping you from receiving the love you belong to.

Seek out those who are experienced in helping you let go of  past wounds and pain and  open your heart to receive the abundant love waiting for you to receive.

“I love you, not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you.  I love you not only for what you have made of yourself but for what you are making of me.  I love you for the part of me, that you bring out.”

You are more than you think you are.  You are more than you believe.  When you believe you are love, when you believe there is only love, you can heal.

Allowing a flow

“Sometimes, we are so attached to our way of life that we turn down wonderful opportunities simply because don’t know what to do with it.”  – Paulo Coelho

I’m selling my house at the moment.  When they tell you that selling a house is on a stress level compared with a death, a divorce or massive tax-bill, I am slowly starting to see why!

Allowing a higher source to guide us through meditation and prayer, is the only way to walk through life.  When I allow fear, control and ego to motivate my choices, I always fall short in energy and moving towards my dreams.  When I surrender and let go of what I believe is the next step, I always find peace.

We may not know the hows or whys in our next project but when you have faith, you will see that waiting for what you want is always the best result!

The reason we allow this fear to creep in, is because we cannot surrender to what spirit has planned for us and believe me, it’s always bigger and better than what we have thought up!

Worry and fear will stop the flow of energy coming towards us and away from us. We worry about what might happen.  We worry about what did happen, and what the consequences might be.  We worry if we do not control the situation then who will? We worry about what will or might not take place….we just worry!

So how do we not worry?

Firstly you have to know that whatever project you decide to embark on, is the right one for you.  In practicing stillness in daily meditation, you will begin to receive insight and intuition as to where and when you should start.  If it is right for you, you will start to see the doors open for you and feel a flow.  Sometimes the project is right but the timing is wrong, so if that is the case, stop and be patient, for pushing against the flow only leads to stress and heartache.

“Things do not always happen the way I would have wanted, and it’s best that I get used to that.”  – Paulo Coelho

When you see barriers come up against your project, you need to go back into stillness and search why it is not flowing for you.  Have you surrendered to the whole picture?  Are you allowing conditioned habits of fear to stop you stepping out into the unknown and trust?

Trusting is difficult.  When you surrender to the plan of spirit it can sometimes feel like you are free-falling, but don’t give-in to your fears.  Just at the right time, I promise that when you walk in faith and stay calm, ignoring your fears, you will never fall for long.

“Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” – Maya Angelou

So next time you embark on a difficult journey, learn to have the courage to see it through.  Take responsibility for the choices you make in life and know that you can be guided when you take the time to listen and be patient.

When you see the flow of spirit along your journey, you will always know it is the only way to go.  Yes, there are lessons to learn along the way but as your dreams manifest, you will know it is worth it.

“None of us knows what might happen even the next minute, yet still we go forward. Because we trust. Because we have Faith.”  – Paulo Coelho

Connecting

“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.”  – Herman Melville

I view my transformation as never-ending.  I say this because transformation never stops. I feel inspired through my discoveries and connection to those who have experienced life fully and who have the wisdom to guide me to a fuller understanding of life.

Through my daily observations and discoveries I am a part of, I continue to seek ways to be connected and risk the exposure of my ideas and experiences to those who seek a change of belief in their life.

“We are all wonderful, beautiful wrecks. That’s what connects us–that we’re all broken, all beautifully imperfect.” – Emilio Estevez

We are all connected.  Although we may think we have all the answers or believe at times, no-one really understands, when you reach out to others and know that everyone can teach you something, or that anyone can trigger a healing in us, then we need to stay open to all those in our life.

To understand connection, you must learn to be present with each other and yourself.  Running here and there, asking people how they are without listening, or searching for all the answers outside of yourself, is not connection.  When we learn to be still in our own silence, when we begin to trust we will be guided in life by spirit and by our intuition, we will see life with a new vision.

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”  – Chief Seattle

There are so many people who feel lonely, so many that feel lost in their pain.  When you open yourself to the unknown and connect, what you will find is the love you never thought you deserved, the job you jump out of bed for, or the future you only dreamed of.

Do things differently if you want different results and start being connected to everything.  Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.

Receiving Abundance

“That’s what I consider true generosity: You give your all, and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing.”  – Simone de Beauvoir

Have you ever imagined winning the lottery and see yourself spending it but also see yourself sharing it with those you love?  Why is it, that we feel we need to be wealthy before we feel we can share?

Having an abundance of money doesn’t suddenly make us generous and although we imagine ourselves giving freely when we are rich, we often keep the same unconscious attitude of scarcity.

Giving generously comes from an open heart that knows, no matter what our bank balance is or how much food we have in our fridge, that there is always plenty for everyone and ourselves.

“If we are going to be kind, let it be out of simple generosity, not because we fear guilt or retribution.”   – JM Coetzee

When we come from a place of scarcity, we are fearful that there is never enough and we feel we cannot give freely to ourselves or others.  We constantly wait for abundance to arrive and while we wait in scarcity, we stop giving and forget it is through giving generously that abundance is available now.

Often books on how abundance and wealth can come into our life, have mantra’s or thoughts that start with “I.”  “I am” abundant, “I receive abundance”, “I see my dream home or holiday”, “I deserve to be abundant” and it occurred to me that focusing on the “I” is not how the gift of abundance flows to us.

“The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.”  – Lao Tzu

I decided I would start to give freely to everyone I met,  I began to visualise myself giving freely as well.   When I shifted my belief from a place of scarcity to a place of giving it was then I started to feel abundant and abundance came to me.

I began to give freely of my time, my thoughts, my money and kept seeing myself have enough for everyone.  Not long after this shift in thought, I began to feel more energised and light and felt like I had enough for me and everyone else, I actually felt like I had won the lottery!

“Give, but give until it hurts.”  – Mother Teresa

It takes a conscious practice everyday to work against the feeling of scarcity, but overtime when you start to give freely on all levels, you will see that abundance is available for everyone and that there is a never ending supply when we approach it from a place of giving.

Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature.”  – Steve Maraboli
