Life isn’t a Relay Race

Sometimes lying under a tree or walking barefoot on the earth, is the most spiritual experience you will ever have.

Last week I was running around like a crazy woman trying to launch a new project and by the end of the week I was exhausted, and felt like I had run a marathon! As I slowed down and connected again, I realised how often I had let my mind take over.  Danna Faulds words are a beautiful reminder.

Walk Slowly

It only takes a reminder to breathe,

a moment to be still, and just like that,

something in me settles, softens, makes

space for imperfection. The harsh voice

of judgment drops to a whisper and I

remember again that life isn’t a relay

race; that we will all cross the finish

line; that waking up to life is what we

were born for. As many times as I

 forget, catch myself charging forward

without even knowing where I’m going,

that many times I can make the choice

to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk

 slowly into the mystery.

  1. “It only takes a reminder to breathe, a moment to be still, and just like that, something in me settles, softens… ” So true and thankful that it is so. Thanks, Karen!

  2. A wonderful reminder, Karen. Having just arrived…home and into a slower and softer period, after two months of so many activities, feelings and experiences, I appreciate this post so much. Thank you. 💜

      1. I don’t have a regular practice which might be part of the reason those short peaceful moments are so fleeting. I might gently want to change that. I say gently on purpose so that I doesn’t up just another thing on my to-do list.

      2. You will find that the practice shortens the to-do-list and gives you so much more space to do the things you love and need. It has changed my life in every way! 💕 don’t let your mind convince you it’s another chore!
