Heart Connection

“Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable”  L Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Tin Man said in the Wizard of Oz, “You people with hearts, have something to guide you, and need never do wrong; but I have no heart, and so I must be very careful.”

I think sometimes in our fast paced world, we forget we are human beings who have vulnerabilities, fears, and needs.  We often shut down this part of ourselves out of fear that we will be seen as weak, or that we will be rejected, and in doing so, we lose our support, love and sense of belonging.

When I began a practice tuning into my heart, allowing myself to feel my emotions of grief, anger, fear or pain, I understood what I needed and from that space, I began to feel more love, confidence, peace and support in every part of my life.

In creating this heart-space connection daily, we don’t have to walk around like Tin Man being careful, suspicious, fearful or disconnected.

Our hearts are there to guide us and when we trust this, we create space for more love, support, connection and freedom.

  1. Thanks for this Karen. I remember being told once at work that I was too emotional and it made me shut down that part of me in a bid to become more ‘professional’!! Now I know that being true to our heart and intuition is key to being a kinder person. Anita
